In 1943 Walter Zorn founded SAAZOR and manufactured the first hobs with used cutting studs.

He realized early on that the need for gearing tools was increasing. Fields of application such as the automotive industry, including commercial vehicles, energy technology, transmission and mechanical engineering, were developed – where gearboxes were built, SAAZOR hobs were also needed.

And it was the challenges of the Second World War and the Reconstruction period that enable Walter Zorn to exceed his own expectations and to hold on to the success of his vision of the "hob". Persistent striving led to technological improvements in terms of service life and cutting data, process reliability through stable cutting edges and wear detection in a short time. And with the installation of the first PVD coating system in 1983, SAAZOR developed into a solution provider from a single source.

Many decades later, SAAZOR continues to operate successfully on the market and has developed into a premium manufacturer of solid steel and solid carbide hobs.
